My initial reaction to your story about Bob's condition was anger, toward the opposing side. Though not satisfied with the way you told the rest of the story, as I wanted more (typical human/Filipino curiosity?), I resolve to trust and believe that he is ok and though I do not know you, please accept a heartfelt gratitude from a native Butuanon, now living in SC, for your support of Bob in his fight. It irks me to know of anyone being mistreated, foreigner or not, in the Phils. or not, and I guess it touched a very sensitive chord. I am also glad to read of your positive assessment of the court system. Though skeptical, I would love to believe that the great disparity in having rights in the eyes of the judicial system for those who have and those who have not's is narrowed or eliminated. Growing up and coming from the family of "have not's" and experiencing that which we have, it will take a first hand experience, but I am looking forward and hopeful. I'm glad my brother sent us your publication of the "Butuan Ramblings" which lead to these exploration of your site. I am so glad for your website, and it is good to read up about my native town from your eyes as you have the experience to compare and contrast both worlds. I was pleasantly surprised to see there are 300+ expats living in Butuan. I'm married to an American and up until after reading your posts, I pretty much have given up on the thought of retiring there, though my heart longs for it, primarily for my husband's safety and comfort. So thank you so much.......P.S. I cannot give you feedback as to how your website is now, compared to previous but can tell you this, it is wonderful and very helpful, user friendly, and very useful and valuable, not to mention encouraging, more than you can ever possibly know. Thank you. Daghang Salamat and Mabuhay.
