    Hi Joseph,
Way out of my league, regarding travel restrictions due to previous convictions. I know quite a few Expats who have had run ins with the law back in their home countries, solved the issues and moved on, as it seems you have. Your new life here will be a wonderful adventure I am sure, and I look forward to meeting you. If you have any specific questions, I am happy to assist. Welcome to Butuan!!!

Can you build boats to our specs. To be used for River Cruise and Leisure.

      Hi Ped,
If it floats, we build it! We specialize in native wood species as well as fiberglass/polymers. Perhaps you can provide an overview of your requirements and we can proceed. Thank you.

  3. Bret says:

what is the T on your prices ? -6T…. is it 6000 php
    -1500T ……….. is it 1500 pesos

    • admin says:

      Hi Bret,
‘T’ is commonly used here to mean ‘thousand’. For example, 5T is Five thousand pesos. It is similar to perhaps the use of ‘K’ in the USa to mean the same thing. For example, in the USA 100K translates to One hundred thousand dollars. Thnks for pointing the potential confusion out-I need to be less lazy, more informative and continue to remember that the internet is worldwide, not just my sphere of existence. I’ll make the corrections shortly, and thanks again for bringing this to my attention.-Greg

    Hi Joseph,
The internet is a quirky vehicle for accurate information. I would propose that the Chan-Robles Law Library be a better resource for all legal matters in this country. It is reasonable to assume that the burden of responsibility relative to age will always fall on the ‘adult’ in any venue, (Lawrence Taylor situation in the US being a good example), and there are certainly a litany of scams in this country to ‘ensnare’ foreigners who delve into this world. It is risky behavior in a land of questionable and fluid enforcement to be sure. The righteous will vilify anyone involved in any such activity, but realists recognize that the sex trade is a enduring part of the human condition everywhere. The direct issue for my advocacy is that kids under 18 generally are considered unprepared for such activity, and many, if not most, are forced into the biz via some pretty disgusting human conduct. There are plenty of ‘hooker bars’ in Butuan that appear to participate in medical programs for the employees, and every hotel guard/cab driver is or knows a pimp-which somewhat insulates a foreigner as long as the foreigner is somewhat smart. Hotel owners don’t want their doors beaten down, nor the controversy-in this clime they would not be in biz very long-especially all the short time hotels. Heck-most of their clientele, (from what I am told), are priests, cops and politicos! Have you been able to check your blotter status in Butuan yet?

I understand what you mean. For me, I would simply send one of my, (or your), cohorts to the police and prosecutor’s office with the requisite information and find out. It appears that travelling around without stress is something you, and we, value. I utilize a retired sheriff for most of our investigative work, for $50-100 bucks, he will find out for sure, and noone knows where you are so, it appears to solve your problem should you choose to go that route.

Just wanted to drop by and leave a link for the Butuan boats issue that cropped up on Facebook. I hope the local authorities in charge of the boat have actually done something about it since the photo!

Thanks Matt-good article. As for the boat lying in Butuan, it is unfortunate that it is not ‘celebrated’ in proper fashion by the local officialdom. Mr. Valdez dropped a Tourism nugget in their laps, and they don’t seem to know it-unfortunately. Thanks again

Hi: This is Eric again. I was just wondering if you could give my wife and I a ride on your boat? I am a paraplegic, however as my website points out, i don’t let anything get in my way. I have been on the glass boat at Duka Resort before, and I have my own inflatable zodiac boat here so when we go to the beach, plus life vest of course. Just let me know, we often cross that bridge on the river and I have always long to travel it.

    • Riverside Marina says:

      Hi Eric!
I propose that we cross that bridge:) when you visit the Marina. We’ll figure something out once we see if we can access the docks in a reasonable manner. I’ll check out your website soon, and contact you via same.
      Thank you,
      greg

        Hi Greg:

Sorry I am just getting back to you. I have been busy building cabnets and such for our little house and relatives. I shipped most of my carpentry tools here, even a small table saw, so I have been busy. Hopefully we will get to your place in September, we are traveling to Cebu this week. We would really like to take a ride on your boat and looking forward to it. You know, I have a question. Do you have knowledge of where I can purchase a step down power transformer ? I shipped a few here, but was not smart enough to realise that all power devices have different power wattage needs, and many of my power tools are not working with what I have. I need at least 1500 or 2000 watt type, any ideas?

        Thanks

        • Riverside Marina says:

          Hi again Eric!
You will likely find better quality transformers in Cebu than here. If No luck in Cebu, I would like to introduce you to Leo Dy at Dyteban Hadware. If he doesn’t have something-he knows where to get it! I have had him on speedial for 9 years and he has saved me countless and frustrating hours attempting to procure items. We look forward to meeting you and your family!

    Hi Greg,
I have misplaced your mobile number. Please resend. Where is the exact location of Riverside Marina? My wife, children and I are back in Butuan now. I am due to leave back to Manila 24th January and would like to catch up at a convenient time possibly on Saturday if that suits you.
    Please advise.

    Regards,

    Mark
