My wife and I are currently residing in Butuan. I tried to locate the AA meeting in the building adjacent to the St. Joseph church you mentioned across from the park. I think it was the pairish main office I checked and the building next door to that. Needless to say I couldn't locate it. Hotel restaurants cater to Asian fare generally, and Western food is sporadic. You can exchange currency in Butuan. We would be happy to pick you up at the airport and show you around town and visit different hotels; I know most of the staffs having lived here for 9 years. We rent rooms here at the Marina that include a fridge and simple cooking facilities-more designed for extended stay visitors that want to be out of the City-visit the Hotels tab on this website for info. Many visitors grab this room initially so they can have a home base while searching the town for accomadations that better meet their needs, and it certainly helps first time visitors to have an information resource from another Expat.
