The primary purpose for including this page is personal health and safety.

There are many ‘hooker bars’ in Butuan, as well as ‘short time’ motels.  Please remember that any sexual contact with a child under 18 is illegal in the Philippines.  This country has a wide ranging law, (RA9208), that deals with exploitation of any kind.  In addition, every doorman at local hotels has connections.  Most van/car/taxi drivers will offer you girls also.  ‘Trolling’ is not a necessary risk since more controlled venues are available.  My advice is to stick with the hooker bars, and politely decline the drivers and doormen.  I will simply state that it is a safer practice for a visitor.  I will be happy to expound on my opinion if asked privately.
