There are usually many apartments available for rent, most in the P7-15000, ($120-300usd) per month range. Water, electric, cable, internet generally doubles that amount. With food, $7-1000usd per month is a reasonable estimate for a comfortable existence. There are some areas where a greater number of Expats reside, should that be of interest. Many apartments are 4-plexes with bedrooms upstairs, and similar floor plans. Other than the usual issues with selecting a location to reside, I would caution that some roadways and apartment fourplexes do not fare as well during rainy season, (Nov-Feb).  Some of the more poorly drained areas provide mosquito habitat and can challenge your olfactory senses!
