Greetings All!
This website is designed to act as your concierge prior to, and during your visit to Butuan City, Mindanao, Philippines. I have tried to keep this site as simple and user friendly as possible. Good, solid information-no flash/bling! Visit the navigation bar for specific information. I have removed the forum because it takes too much time to maintain, but all comments via email are welcome. gingoogvacation@yahoogroups.com has kindly offered to act as the forum for this site.
The ‘Weekly News’ is my commentary on Butuan happenings. Topics on the sidebar that are recently updated will appear with *****.
Feel free to email me at asiaislandic@yahoo.com to address your specific/private questions.
Enjoy your visit!
A few initial thoughts to ponder:
Acquiring quantified, reliable and accurate information specifically about the Butuan Region is a challenge for Expats who visit and perhaps relocate to this region. The usual information sources do not exist here. As you likely know, there are many websites/blogs about life in the Philippines, and most of the information is valid and offered with good intent. What is not often noted is that there are distinct differences and challenges facing Expats visiting different areas. For example, a website/blog originating in Cebu, contains very little ‘correct’ information about life in Butuan City-hence the genesis for this website.
Most of the Expats who visit Butuan do so because they have met a gal on the internet. There are currently 3-400 Expats residing in the Butuan Region, so welcome to the club! Most are very content with their new life. Initially, the information an Expat gains about life in Butuan is limited by the life experience of the gal, which generally is confined to her circle of existence. I simply encourage you to ask me questions prior to your visit, and I can direct you to a qualified source. It has been often commented by visitors that they learned more in 1 hour at our marina/restaurant than 1 month elsewhere!
If visiting Butuan for the first time, please consider staying at our B&B. The rooms are in a seperate building with a seperate entrance, and are the only rooms in town with in-room DSL. If you wish a pool, all of the hotels offer a daily pool pass for a couple bucks.
By staying with us, it is easier to get the ‘lay of the land’!
